The Gospel Pilgrim Cemetery, founded in 1882, was once a very prominent burial site for African Americans in Athens, Georgia. The cemetery was largely neglected and fell into disrepair over the last three decades. On Thursday April 19, the FRC is invited to participate in a service event at the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia, a 501(c)3 that recovers donated and salvaged surplus food and distributes it to local agencies that assist residents in need. Join us for service learning event on Thursday, September 28th from 5 PM - 6 PM at the Green Roof Garden. We will meet just before 5 PM on the first floor of Rutherford near the bulletin board outside of 142 Rutherford Hall. Non-FRC members are welcome to join, so please bring friends!
