About the FRC

The FRC is a mix of students studying humanities, fine and performing arts, social sciences and life or computational sciences. Our residents include first-year through senior students, and they reside in Rutherford Hall. In Fall 2021, we welcomed 97 students into the Franklin Residential College, including a mix of returning members, new members, and incoming first year students.

Students in The Franklin College of Arts and Sciences may apply for a space at the FRC, the oldest residential college at UGA, during the spring semester of every year. The FRC is open to any student majoring or minoring in one of the 30 Franklin College of Arts and Sciences programs. Members are admitted by the FRC Academic Advisor in Residence, Director, and the Director's Assistants on the basis of their interest in and commitment to participating in the community of a residential college. They enjoy its character, as well as its robust intellectual, cultural, and social life with the presence of the Academic Advisor in Residence and the FRC Director.

Along with the students, the Academic Advisor in Residence and their family live in Rutherford Hall in the apartment located on the first floor. This family regularly hosts students in their apartment for special events. The residential family works together with the Director, Director's Assistants, and student-elected FRC Executive Board to develop programs and activities for the students involved in the FRC.
