Jamie Rodriguez

I joined the FRC since the start of my freshman year in 2016. It was a small program about 30-40 students, clearly not the same number of students that today's FRC holds. The FRC grew into the tremendous program it is today, offering a home away from home, the ability to create a small-knit community in a residence hall, and various social, service, academic programs that are so fun and informative. FRC will forever have a special place in my heart. It was a major part of my college career since it housed me for four consecutive years. I loved being able to interact with other residents at cookie nights, day trips (like Tallulah Gorge- such a gorgeous place), music events at Hugh Hodgson, and grill outs on the quad. I loved giving back to the community through the various service trips we had like the Brooklyn cemetery and the rooftop garden- it is so peaceful up there and the view of the Stadium and various buildings is amazing. I also thoroughly enjoyed the various hands-on activities FRC had, like pumpkin carving on Halloween or painting with Chera Jo's brother. Lastly, through the FRC, I made some awesome friendships and rekindled some old friendships. I literally re-met two people through the FRC that I had previous met outside of UGA. The odds and chances of that happening is so minimal. FRC is definitely a program that I am so glad I was a part of and I was so glad I stumbled upon this program four years ago when I was deciding on housing. Thank you FRC for the contribution you made on making my college years so memorable.
