The FRC hosts a variety of exciting and entertaining events throughout the year that are open to all members of the Franklin Residential College. For the 2013-2014 academic year, events include a student Art Show, a student talent show, a Semi-Formal Dance and an end of the year Banquet. Standing events for the Franklin Residential College are listed below.
Every Monday night at 8:30 p.m., the Dean in Residence, Rebecca Simpson-Litke, hosts students in her apartment for home baked cookies and milk that help students start their week off right.
Held about every three weeks during the academic year, a committee of our students arranges for a Franklin College of Arts and Sciences faculty member to visit the FRC to discuss a topic of interest. Past topics have included Scientific Illustration, Costa Rica and even some unconventional topics such as the Impact of the Casey Anthony Trial.
A small group of students will join the Senior Dean and Dean in Residence of the FRC to attend one of UGA's many theatre, music, or dance performances using the FRC tickets. Past performances have included Yo-Yo Ma, Diavolo Dance Theater, Second City, the Watercoolers, State Ballet of Russia and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
Every year the FRC takes 30 students to the UGA Marine Institute for Fall Break which is located on Sapelo Island. This trip is a highlight of all members as it allows students to explore the island and get away from schoolwork. More information about Sapelo Island can be found at http://ugami.uga.edu/.
